Faisal, son of Abdulrasheed Maina, who is standing trial alongside his father, for laundering pensioners’ money to the tune of billions, has bolted to the U.S.
According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Faisal jumped bail and is currently on the run.
Summarily, Faisal’s surety, Alhaji Sani Dan-Galadima, a member of the House of Representatives is to forfeit a property used as a bail bond to the Federal Goverment, Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja, ruled on Thursday.
Dan-Galadima represents Kaura-Namoda Federal Constituency of Zamfara.
The EFCC’s lawyer, Mr Mohammed Abubakar told the court that Faisal escaped to America through neighbouring Niger Republic.
Persecondnews recalls that Faisal was granted a N60 million bail with a surety in the same amount, who must be a serving House of Representatives member.
Both Faisal and his incarcerated father are facing several cases of money laundering.
His father, Maina who was Chairman of the defunct Presidential Pension Reformed Task Team (PPRTT), had fled to Niger Republic before he was arrested through the assistance of INTERPOL and brought back to Nigeria to face trial.
