Last-minute suspense and drama saw Africa’s top women’s teams, including surprise package Malawi and former champions Nigeria and South Africa, advance to the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 quarter-finals.

The knockout phase begins on 8 and 9 August, with the eight remaining nations chasing semi-final places and automatic qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027.

Saturday’s action opens at Stade Moulay Rachid in Casablanca, where Côte d’Ivoire meet Algeria at 17:00 GMT.

The Ivorians impressed throughout the group stage and will look to keep their momentum against an Algerian side reaching the last eight with ambitions of a first-ever semi-final appearance.

Attention then moves to Rabat’s Stade Moulay Hassan for a high-stakes rematch as hosts Morocco face South Africa at 20:00 GMT.

The encounter revisits the 2022 TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON final, which Banyana Banyana won 2-1.

Sunday starts with a heavyweight contest at Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca, pitting Cameroon against record 10-time champions Nigeria at 17:00 GMT.

The Indomitable Lionesses came through the group stage unbeaten and now confront the Super Falcons in one of the standout fixtures of the round.

The final quarter-final takes place at Stade Al Madina in Rabat, where tournament surprise package Malawi tackle Ghana at 20:00 GMT.

Malawi have reached the knockout stage on debut and will aim to prolong their remarkable campaign against the Black Queens.

The four winners progress to the semi-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON Morocco 2026 and move one step closer to lifting Africa’s most coveted women’s football trophy.
