Mystery As Ex-Benue Council Chair Dies Four Days After Wife’s Passing

Tragedy has cast a dark cloud over the Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State following the sudden death of its former chairman, Moses Shirsha.

In a heartbreaking turn of events, Shirsha passed away just four days after the death of his wife, Mercy Mngu Shirsha.

The former council boss was reportedly in the middle of organizing his wife’s funeral arrangements when he died.

This double loss has plunged his family and associates into deep mourning.

The news was confirmed on Friday by his former aide, Ukeyima John Ukmoni, who shared a touching tribute on Facebook.

“With deep sorrow but total submission to the will of God, this is the burial arrangement of my first boss Hon Moses Shirsha (former Chairman Konshisha LG), the very first man I ever worked for, who departed this life after hearing the shocking loss of his beloved wife Mrs Shirsha Mercy Mngu,” he wrote.

Details shared in the post indicate that a wake will take place on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the late chairman’s residence in Makurdi.

Both the former chairman and his wife are scheduled to be buried on Friday, April 10, 2026, at their family compound in Shirsha Adeega Village, Mbaasuku, Mbator Gaav, located in Konshisha LGA.
