Achraf Hakimi, the Paris Saint-Germain defender who also captains the Moroccan national team, is scheduled to appear before a criminal court to answer allegations of rape, according to fresh judicial updates.

Several prominent French news outlets, among them France 24, broke the development on Tuesday after receiving direct confirmation from court insiders and representatives of the player’s legal counsel.

The allegations trace back to a formal complaint submitted on February 26, 2023, by a woman who was 24 years old at the time.

She claimed the incident occurred inside Hakimi’s residence in Boulogne-Billancourt, a suburb of Paris, following an initial connection made through social media when she visited his home late on the night of February 24.

Within five days of that complaint being lodged, French authorities issued a formal indictment against the then-24-year-old footballer, who had earlier featured for Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid.

Public prosecutors based in Nanterre had pushed in August 2025 for the dossier to be referred to a full criminal trial.

The confirmation issued on Tuesday brings the long-running investigation to a close, after the examining magistrate ruled that the case should now proceed to trial.

The 27-year-old has repeatedly rejected the claims from the outset, insisting the encounter was fully consensual.

In a statement he posted on X on Tuesday, Hakimi voiced deep frustration with the legal process while once again proclaiming his innocence.

“Today, a rape accusation is enough to justify a trial, even though I deny it and everything proves it’s false.

“This is as unjust to the innocent as it is to the genuine victims. I calmly await this trial, which will allow the truth to come out publicly,” Hakimi stated.
