Liverpool Crushed 3-0 at Anfield, Slot’s Side Hit Rock Bottom

515

Liverpool’s title defence is in free fall, with a humiliating 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds, who had seen a sizeable chunk of their support leave before the final whistle, were outclassed in every department, with their latest defeat extending their run to six losses in seven games.

The first-half saw Liverpool dominate possession but create little, with Alexander Isak struggling to make an impact, failing to register a shot on target.

It was Forest who snatched the lead through a set-piece, as Murillo’s curling shot found its way past Alisson Becker, following a mistake from Virgil van Dijk.

The goal sparked frustration, with Liverpool pushing for an equalizer, but it was Forest who grew in confidence, dominating the second half.

The visitors sealed their victory with two late goals, the first coming from Savona after a lapse in concentration from Liverpool’s defence, and the third from Gibbs-White, tapping in a rebound after Alisson parried Omari Hutchinson’s shot.

The result marked Forest’s biggest-ever win at Anfield, while Liverpool’s woes deepened.

Arne Slot’s side has lost its spark, with the team looking disjointed and lacking in creativity.

The Dutch manager’s tactical tweaks, including starting Dominik Szoboszlai at right-back, failed to pay off, with his side struggling to contain Forest’s attacking forays.

Slot’s frustration was palpable, with his team booed off the pitch by their own fans.

Sean Dyche’s Forest, on the other hand, were superb, with Murillo and Elliot Anderson leading the charge.

Anderson’s performance was particularly impressive, with the midfielder dictating play and making crucial interventions.

Dyche’s emphasis on simplicity and defending has transformed Forest, who now sit above Liverpool in the table.
