Breaking: Senegalese Leader Faye Takes Over as ECOWAS Chairman

In a major transition for the sub-region, Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has taken the helm as the new ECOWAS Chairman.

Faye was selected by his peers during a high-level summit of West African heads of state, succeeding President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone.

Meanwhile, Biram Diop has been appointed as the new President of the ECOWAS Commission, replacing Dr Omar Touray.

The summit, attended by leaders from across the region, is expected to focus on strengthening regional integration, enhancing cooperation and promoting solidarity among the peoples of West Africa.
