The law has caught up with former Science and Technology Minister Uche Nnaji, who was arrested at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport after previously being declared wanted by the court.

Reports indicate Nnaji was intercepted on Wednesday following his arrival from Enugu on a chartered flight.

According to Premium Times, airport sources confirmed the development, noting that he is set to be transferred to the ICPC for questioning.

The ICPC had reportedly been tracking Nnaji since his resignation last year, which followed investigations into the certificate forgery allegations.

The case stemmed from a two-year investigation by Premium Times published last October, which alleged that Nnaji had forged both his University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) degree and his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.

In mid-June, a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the ICPC to arrest the former minister.

The court also granted the anti-graft agency permission to declare him wanted across national newspapers, social media, and other media channels.

According to the ICPC’s ex parte application, the agency sought the court order after Nnaji repeatedly failed to honor invitations to assist with their ongoing investigation.

The report claimed that the disputed documents were submitted to President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian Senate during Nnaji’s ministerial confirmation in 2023.

The documents were also reportedly presented to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the State Security Service and the Senate.

Nnaji later admitted that UNN never issued him a degree certificate.
