Retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme can now register for “PenCare,” a new free healthcare initiative launched by the National Pension Commission (PenCom).
In a recent statement, PenCom explained that the pilot phase focuses on senior citizens aged 60 and older whose monthly pension from their Pension Fund Administrator is ₦70,000 or less.
The scheme is set to benefit at least 30,000 eligible retirees, with enrollment handled strictly on a first-come, first-served basis.
It added: “Registration is live and can be done by scanning the barcode published in newspapers, visiting http://www.pencom.gov.ng, or checking any PFA website.”
The commission described PenCare as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project aimed at reducing the burden of medical expenses and preserving retirees’ dignity and wellbeing.
