Member representing Ideato North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, and founder of the Action People’s Party (APP), Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, has issued a stern warning to opposition political parties, particularly the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), and Labour Party (LP), to immediately halt what he described as reckless internal attacks, public bickering, and ego-driven political battles threatening the credibility of the opposition.

In a strongly worded statement issued in Abuja, Ugochinyere condemned the rising wave of accusations, media confrontations, and divisive rhetoric among opposition leaders, describing the trend as childish, destructive, and deeply counterproductive at a time Nigerians are yearning for credible alternatives.

“This is not the time for unnecessary fights and public attacks against one another,” he declared. “Nigerians expect the opposition to offer hope, direction, and practical solutions, not endless quarrels that only weaken our collective strength.”

The outspoken lawmaker warned that continued infighting among opposition parties risks destroying public confidence and undermining efforts to build a formidable democratic force capable of addressing the nation’s worsening insecurity, economic hardship, unemployment, and governance failures.

He emphasized that personal ambitions, political egos, and internal rivalries must be set aside in favor of strategic cooperation, dialogue, and alliance-building that prioritizes national interest over individual agendas.

According to Ugochinyere, unity remains the opposition’s greatest political weapon and the only pathway to building public trust and strengthening democratic values.

“The people are watching,” he said. “What Nigerians want to see is maturity, unity, and shared purpose. Opposition politics must not degenerate into a battlefield of insults, bitterness, and needless hostility.”

He urged party leaders across the opposition bloc to focus their energies on confronting the real challenges facing Nigerians rather than wasting valuable political capital on internal divisions.

His remarks come amid growing concerns over persistent fractures within opposition circles, with many political observers warning that disunity could severely weaken efforts to challenge the ruling establishment and present a viable national alternative.
