Senator Kabiru Marafa, who coordinated the Tinubu/Shettima 2023 presidential campaign in Zamfara State, has officially joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

The induction took place at Guzape in Abuja on Tuesday with the party chairman Cleopas Zuwoghe welcoming the former senator.

He said the NDC’s doors remain open to all Nigerians who mean well for the country.

“Marafa is tested and trusted this alliance is for the betterment of Zamfara people. We are driven by passion and anybody who is fuelled by passion is unstoppable.

“So I urge all new members to be passionate so we can change the Nigerian narrative,” Persecondnews correspondent who covered the event quotes Zuwoghe as saying.

National Leader of the newly registered party, Sen. Seriake Dickson, hailed Marafa as a valuable addition to the fold.

“Marafa is a great Nigerian citizens he is coming to share is experience and value he upheld all through is public career.

“I am sure that going forward the story of Zamfara will change. Insecurity will be no more because it is a by product of bad leadership,” he said.

Highlighting the NDC’s unified front, Dickson remarked: “We are the only political party without internal friction or factions. In just a few short months, we have risen to become the third-largest force in the country.”

Marafa, expressing gratitude for the reception, pledged a strong partnership ahead.

“Thank you for opening your doors for me, we will be great because we have great leaders in this party that are visionary, Zamfara will be great again,” he said.

Persecondnews reports that NDC, registered by INEC in February 2026, is pursuing an aggressive, multi-pronged growth strategy aimed at positioning itself as a credible national alternative ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Barely two months old, the party founded and led nationally by Sen. Seriake Dickson leverages its status as a “brand-new platform” with no internal crises, lawsuits, or factions to differentiate it from established parties like the APC and PDP.

At the heart of NDC’s expansion is high-profile recruitment of defectors and experienced politicians.

The party maintains an open-door policy, actively welcoming figures from across the political spectrum— ncluding disenchanted members of the PDP, ADC, SDP, LP, and even APC who share its ideals of service-driven governance.

This approach was exemplified in recent defections and public inductions that bring ready-made structures, grassroots followership, and visibility in key states.

Complementing recruitment is fast-tracked structural development to build nationwide presence from the grassroots up.

The NDC has officially released its congress timetable, beginning in April 2026.

The process will move through ward, local government, state, and zonal levels, concluding with a national convention on May 9, 2026.

This structured approach to internal democracy underscores the party’s electoral readiness and its commitment to avoiding the factional infighting seen in rival parties.
