Former Nigeria U-20 captain and Molde FK midfielder Daniel Daga has been sentenced to six months in prison by the Nordmøre og Romsdal District Court in Norway.

The 19-year-old was found guilty of a sexual act committed without consent, following an incident reported in April 2025.

According to Norwegian broadcaster TV 2, the court delivered the verdict on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

Along with the custodial sentence, Daga was ordered to pay legal costs of approximately 10,000 NOK (₦1.45 million).

However, the ruling is not yet final as Daga’s legal team has filed an appeal, maintaining his innocence and asserting that the encounter was consensual.

Daga, who joined Molde FK in January 2025, made 17 appearances and scored three goals for the club.

His lawyer, Astrid Bolstad, has confirmed that the player will appeal the verdict, maintaining that Daga is innocent and insisting that the encounter was consensual.

Bolstad told TV2 that the player was deeply disappointed with the ruling and plans to challenge the decision through the legal process.
