The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the list of match officials for the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025.

Persecondnews reports that a total of 73 officials, including 28 referees, 31 assistant referees, and 14 VAR officials, have been selected to officiate the tournament, which is scheduled to take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

CAF, in a statement on Thursday, noted that the “selected officials are highly experienced and represent various regions of the continent, having officiated in several major CAF competitions.

“They will undergo an intensive preparatory course in Morocco, starting December 15, 2025, which will include physical, technical, and theoretical assessments to ensure they are well-prepared for the tournament.”

CAF’s commitment to refereeing excellence and competition integrity is evident in the careful selection of these officials.

The continental governing body continues to enhance technical standards across African football, and the tournament is expected to showcase some of the best officiating talent on the continent.

The tournament will feature some notable officials, including Ghana’s Daniel Laryea, South Africa’s Abongile Tom, and Nigeria’s Yemisi Akintoye, who was part of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2025 officiating team.

The match officials will be responsible for ensuring fair play and upholding the integrity of the competition.
