Annie Idibia Snubs 2Face’s Mom’s 70th Birthday, Embraces “Soft Life” Philosophy

The public feud between 2Baba Idibia and his ex-wife, Nollywood actress Annie Idibia, escalated recently.

The conflict entered a new phase after Annie shunned her former mother-in-law’s 70th birthday celebration, choosing instead to flaunt her “soft life era” on social media.

While the legendary singer’s mother marked her milestone surrounded by family and well-wishers, Annie was conspicuously absent.

Instead, she updated her followers with clips of herself dancing, laughing, and partying with celebrity stylist Swanky Jerry and a few close friends.

The actress, who has been open about her struggles in her marriage to 2Face before their separation, appeared unconcerned about skipping such a significant family event.

Her posts gave the impression that she has firmly shifted her focus from family obligations to self-care and personal freedom.

In a bold caption that accompanied the video, Annie made her intentions clear.

“Her soft era comes with boundaries. Good vibes only,” she wrote, underscoring her decision to embrace a lifestyle that prioritises peace, joy, and positivity.

She further expressed her excitement over her current playlist, gushing about a collaboration between Young Jonn and Wizkid.

“Love loveeeeeeee this song by @youngjonn n Big @wizkidayo. On repeat mannnnnnnnnnnnn,” she added, showing off her carefree mood.

For Annie, this new phase represents a reinvention of self.

Having endured years of scrutiny as 2Face’s wife, marked by publicized marital crises and family drama, she is now positioning herself as a woman who has broken free from the baggage of her past.

However, her decision to ignore the 70th birthday of her former mother-in-law has sparked debates online.

Some critics see it as a deliberate act of defiance, suggesting it highlights the strained relationship between her and 2Face’s family.

Others, however, defended her absence, arguing that Annie has every right to prioritise her mental health and live her life without being tied to expectations from her ex-husband’s family.

“She doesn’t owe anyone appearances anymore,” one social media user wrote.

Another commenter added: “At 70, the family deserves respect, but Annie has been through a lot. If partying gives her peace, then so be it.”

The divided reactions underline the ongoing fascination with the Idibias’ turbulent history.

Observers also note that Annie’s alignment with Swanky Jerry, her longtime friend, is symbolic.

He has often stood by her during her public challenges, and their recent outing suggests that Annie is leaning on her inner circle rather than family ties for support.
