NSC Inspects Facilities in Lagos for 2026 National Youth Games Hosting Rights

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has concluded its two-day inspection of facilities in Lagos State as part of the process for awarding hosting rights for the 2026 10th National Youth Games.

According to a statement on Tuesday from Dr. Kehinde Ajayi, the NSC’s Director of Press, the commission visited several facilities.

These included the Elegbata Mini stadium, Onikan stadium, TBS Cricket oval, and the Rowe Park Sports Centre, among others.

“The inspection team, led by the Director of Grassroots Sports Department, Amaka Ashiofu, ensured that every detail was put into consideration during the exercise,” the statement said.

Ashiofu highlighted the importance of the inspection, stating that it “underlines the commission’s commitment to maintaining its grassroots development drive through top-class organization of domestic sporting competitions.”

The NSC’s Director General, Bukola Olopade, added that the exercise is crucial for determining Lagos State’s readiness to host the National Youth Games.

“The commission under the Leadership of the Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, is very determined to maintain its grassroots development drive through top-class organization of domestic sporting competitions,” Olopade said.

The inspection team also included the Chief of Staff to the NSC DG, Seyi Johnson, and the commission’s statistician, Lekan Alabi.

Persecondnews reports that the Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, thanked the NSC for showing confidence in the state and assured that they would work on all the assessment and feedbacks from the NSC to get Lagos fully ready to host the Games if given the hosting rights.

Fatodu’s comments underscore the state’s commitment to hosting a successful games.
