Breaking: FG Sets 16 as Minimum Age for Tertiary Institution Admission

The Federal Government has officially set the minimum entry age for admission into the nation’s tertiary institutions at 16 years old.

Additionally, the government has declared that any admission process conducted outside of the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) will be deemed illegal, and those responsible will face prosecution.

Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, announced this on Tuesday while declaring open the ongoing Policy Meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board(JAMB) in Abuja.

Alausa declared that the official age of 16 for tertiary institution entry is non-negotiable.

He further warned that heads of institutions found involved in admission fraud will be prosecuted.
