Teenage cycling sensation Osaretin Godwin of Edo State caused a stir at the 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun State on Wednesday, triumphing over Ese Ukpeseraye, Nigeria’s first cycling Olympian, securing first place in the women’s 200m sprint, with Ukpeseraye finishing second.

Persecondnews correspondent covering the games, reports that the young cyclist’s impressive performance has earned her a spot in the semi-finals, setting up a potentially thrilling showdown with Ukpeseraye.

Running together in the same heat, Osaretin outpaced Ukpeseraye, crossing the finish line first and leaving many cycling fans in awe.

This victory marks a significant turning point for Osaretin, who had previously competed against senior athletes like Ukpeseraye and Joke Durogbade of Oyo State at the last National Sports Festival in Asaba, Delta State.

The semi-finals and final of the women’s 200m sprint event are expected to be highly competitive, with Ukpeseraye looking to use her wealth of experience to defeat Osaretin and retain the gold medal.

However, the teenage cyclist has proven that she has what it takes to challenge the more experienced riders, and fans will be eagerly anticipating the outcome of the semi-finals and final.
