Liverpool have been crowned Premier League champions for the second time in their history, and a record-equalling 20th time in the top flight, under the expert guidance of Arne Slot.

Sunday’s 5-1 thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield sealed the title, moving the Reds out of reach of nearest rivals Arsenal with four matches still to play.

The victory marks a special moment for Liverpool, who last won the Premier League title in 2019/20 under Jurgen Klopp.

However, that triumph came without fans in attendance due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This time, the Reds have lifted the trophy in front of their passionate supporters, who flooded the roads around Anfield ahead of the match.

“It’s incredible to win this with our fans,” Mohamed Salah told Sky Sports.

“This is 100 per cent better than last time, especially with the fans. We have a different group now, so to show we can do it again is something special.”

Slot’s tactical acumen and leadership played a crucial role in Liverpool’s title-winning campaign.

Despite conceding the opening goal, the Reds showed their character and resilience to win the match 5-1.

“The way we arrived on the bus, everyone was thinking there is no way we were going to lose this game,” Slot said.

“Conceding first made it difficult, but they always find a way to win.”

Salah’s impressive form has been instrumental in Liverpool’s success, with the Egyptian leading the Premier League charts for most goals (28) and assists (18) this season.

Salah’s goal and assist tally accounts for 58% of Liverpool’s Premier League goals this season.

The 31-year-old is on track to break the record for most goal involvements in a Premier League season, currently held by Andrew Cole (47) and Alan Shearer (47).

“Goal involvements, for sure… hopefully I’m going to break it soon,” Salah said.

With Liverpool now joint with Manchester United at the top of the all-time top-flight title rankings (20), the Reds will look to build on this success in the coming seasons.
