Tinubu to Flag Off Unity Torch Movement Ahead of 22nd National Sports Festival

In a symbolic gesture of peace and unity, President Bola Tinubu will officially flag off the Unity Torch movement on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The National Sports Commission (NSC) confirmed the development in a statement by the Director of Press, Mrs. Ajayi Kehinde, on Monday evening, describing the unity Torch as a symbol of peace fostering national cohesion.

According to the statement, the unity Torch will embark on a nationwide tour, visiting the capitals of all states in the Federation to herald the 22nd National Sports Festival.

“The unity torch, which symbolizes peace and unity, will transmit the message of peace and brotherhood among the people of Nigeria,” the official communique stated.

The 22nd National Sports Festival, Nigeria’s premier multi-sport event, is scheduled to take place in Abeokuta from May 16-30, will bring together athletes from across the country to compete in various sporting disciplines.

The festival aims to promote talent discovery, unity, and sportsmanship. Zonal eliminations took place a few weeks ago, with State contingents competing for slots to participate in the main event in May.

The unity torch movement is expected to generate excitement and anticipation for the National Sports Festival, which promises to be a celebration of Nigerian sportsmanship and unity.
