Few weeks to son’s wedding, FG’s hospital senior staff commits suicide, plunges into deep well

A tragic incident has hit the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Ogun capital, as the acting Head of the Audit Department, Mr. Adeniyi Oluwaseun, took his life, plunging into a deep well after a dinner.

The incident which occurred in Obantoko, the capital city’s outskirts on Sunday, January 19 evening, has left the community, family and the hospital in shock and mourning.

Persecondnews gathered that the deceased, few hours after his last supper, who had been battling mental health challenges and had previously undergone medication, went out quietly to take his life.

The sudden passing of the family patriarch, who is survived by two wives and three children, has left his loved ones in shock and grief, particularly as they were eagerly anticipating the upcoming wedding of one of his children, scheduled to take place in just a month.

The body has been retrieved from the well and deposited at the hospital morgue.

Confirming the incident, Dr. Segun Orisajo, the Head of Public Relations and Communication Unit at FMC, expressed the hospital management’s deep sorrow and condolences to the family.

“It is true that he committed suicide. It was an unfortunate incident. The management feels saddened about this development,” Orisajo said.

He described the late Adeniyi as a hardworking and loyal staff member whose sudden death came as a shock to everyone at the hospital.

“The unfortunate incident caught the entire management off guard. It is a quiet and irreparable loss.

“The management extends its heartfelt condolences to the department, as well as to the immediate and extended family members of the deceased,” hr said.
