Herbalist Hospitalized After Failing ‘Bulletproof’ Charm Test

A local herbalist, Ismail Usman, is fighting for his life after testing a self-made ‘bulletproof’ charm by shooting himself in the stomach.

The incident occurred on November 23 at Kuchibuyi village in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

According to witnesses, Usman had fortified himself with the charm before picking up a locally fabricated gun and shooting himself.

Unfortunately, the charm failed to protect him, leaving him with severe injuries, Persecondnews gathered.

Confirming the incident on Saturday, the FCT police command spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the police received a distress call from a resident and officers from the Byazhin Division rushed Usman to Kubwa General Hospital.

Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital, where doctors are working to save his life.

Upon recovery, Adeh said Usman would face charges for unlawful possession of firearms and attempted suicide, which violates Section 231 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria.

FCT Police Commissioner Olatunji Disu condemned the incident, highlighting the dangers associated with illegal firearms.

The police also recovered the homemade gun and an array of charms used in Usman’s reckless experiment.

Investigations are ongoing.
