Just in: In 48 hours, national grid collapses second time, crashes to 0.00 MW

Nigeria’s national grid has suffered another collapse, the second this week and in two days, disrupting power supply and leaving millions of Nigerians without electricity.

Persecondnews confirmed that, as of 11 a.m. on Thursday, the 22 power plants were only able to generate 2,323 megawatts of electricity, with generation dropping to 0.00 MW.

The peak generation for the day was 3,743 MW as of 10 a.m.

The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) reported a power outage at 11:29 am.

IKEDC said: “Dear esteemed customer, please be informed that we experienced a system outage today, 7 November 2024, at 11:29 hrs, affecting supply within our network.

“Restoration of supply is ongoing in collaboration with our critical stakeholders. Kindly bear with us.”

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has not issued a statement on the recent grid collapse, which marks the 11th collapse in 2024.
