Eid-ul-Mawlid: FG declares Monday, Sept. 16 public holiday

The Federal Government has declared Monday, September 16, a public holiday in observance of Eid-ul-Mawlid.

A statement by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, announced the holiday.

Eid-ul-Mawlid, an Islamic festival, commemorates the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, congratulated Muslim Ummah on the occasion, both at home and in the diaspora, according to the statement.

He urged the Muslim Ummah and, by extension, Nigerians, to imbibe the spirit of patience, sacrifice, and resilience.

While congratulating the Muslim Ummah on the occasion, the Minister implored them to use the opportunity of the period to pray for enduring peace and a more prosperous egalitarian nation.
