The police have assumed control of security at the Emir of Kano’s main palace, replacing the local hunters who had been guarding Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II since his return.

Some forces allegedly moved to reinstate the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado-Bayero, and remove Sanusi II from the main palace, prompting the deployment of the local hunters, known as ‘Yan Tauri’, to the palace, according to Persecondnews.

On Sunday evening, security personnel took control of the Gidan Rumfa, the Emir’s main palace.

SP Haruna Kiyawa, the Kano State Police Command’s spokesperson at the time of this report, had not yet commented on the unexpected shift in security measures at the main palace.
