In response to mounting tension over the demolition of buildings and businesses at Landmark Beach to pave the way for the Lagos-Calabar highway, the Minister of Works, Mr. David Umahi, has taken a decisive step to compensate affected tenants.

At a presentation ceremony held in Lagos on Wednesday, Umahi announced that all tenants within the Landmark premises have been shortlisted for compensation and assured them that they would receive their payments promptly.

Umahi’s statement comes amid growing concerns and protests from affected individuals and groups over the demolition activities.

Speaking at the presentation, Umahi restated the Federal Government’s commitment to addressing the grievances of those affected by the development.

He stated:”To announce to the press that all the tenants within the Landmark premises today have all been shortlisted for payment and are all here. They will all get their alerts by 2 p.m., and that closes the politics of Landmark.”

With this declaration, Umahi said this move will further quell lingering doubts or controversies surrounding the compensation process, affirming that the government is fulfilling its obligations to the affected tenants.
