Tinubu leads delegation to Dakar for Senegalese President-elect’s inauguration

The inauguration holding at the Diamniadio Exhibition Centre on Tuesday is expected to be attended by other regional leaders.

President Bola Tinubu would leave Abuja for Dakar, Senegal, on Tuesday, April 2, to attend the inauguration of 44-year-old Bassirou Faye, the country’s incoming president.

Tinubu is attending the ceremony
at the invitation of the Senegalese government and in his capacity as the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.

It is his first visit to the country since he took office on May 29, 2023, a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity and given to Persecondnews said on Monday.

The inauguration holding at the Diamniadio Exhibition Centre on Tuesday is expected to be attended by other regional leaders.

Accompanying Tinubu on the trip are Mr Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and other high-ranking government officials and he is due back in Nigeria after the inauguration.

The trip to Senegal is President Tinubu’s 17th overseas trip and his sixth African state visit since taking office 10 months ago.

Tinubu has so far travelled to the following places: New Delhi, India; Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates; Berlin, Germany; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Nairobi, Kenya; London, United Kingdom; Bissau, Guinea-Bissau (twice); New York, United States of America; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Berlin, Germany; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; and Doha, Qatar.
