In a decisive move to maintain urban planning integrity, the Lagos State Government has issued a 30-day final notice to owners or occupiers of residential buildings illegally converted to various establishments, including churches, mosques, lounges, bars, and clubhouses.

The directive, aimed at restoring adherence to the state’s master plan, emphasizes the need for reverting to the original use of these structures.

The announcement conveyed through a statement signed by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, highlighted what he described as the blatant distortion of the state’s master plan, particularly in residential areas.

The Commissioner expressed concern over the flagrant disregard for regulatory provisions as certain entities have transformed residential areas into clubhouses and similar establishments.

According to him, following the expiration of the 30-day ultimatum, structures found in violation of the directive will face demolition.

This proactive measure, he said, reflects the government’s commitment to upholding urban planning standards and maintaining the sanctity of residential areas within the state.
