“I promise to govern with the fear of God, fairness, equity, and justice. I will not fail the people and will be transparent and accountable,” were the words of Mr. Usman Ododo, the new governor of Kogi State, as he was inaugurated on Saturday.

An elated Ododo also promised to be transparent and accountable to the people in performing his duties as governor.

According to Persecondnews, Vice President Kashim Shettima and other dignitaries were present when Ododo made the pledge at his and the Deputy Governor’s inauguration ceremonies held at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre in Lokoja, the state capital.

“I will build on the solid foundation of unity existing in the state. I will strive not to undermine the trust placed in him to lead the people of the state.”.

The new governor also said workers, teachers, youths, and women in Kogi State should expect positive changes under his leadership, just as he assured that their yearnings and aspirations would be met.

Today’s inauguration, he pointed out, marked the end of the era of bitter politics in the state, saying a new beginning has emerged.

In addition, he pledged to work towards fulfilling the visions of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu by positioning Kogi State as a sub-national government for overall economic growth.

Ododo called on the people to put an end to greed and make difficult choices, emphasizing the importance of unity and cooperation.

Furthermore, Ododo expressed his commitment to building upon the foundation of unity that already exists in the state.

In his pursuit of the politics of inclusivity, Ododo promised to work on a charter of power rotation in the state and announced plans to attract investments, create more homes and businesses, develop farmland, improve the educational system, and provide opportunities for women and youths.

Ododo acknowledged the achievements of his predecessor, Governor Bello, and praised him for transforming Kogi State and the contributions of former governors Idris Wada and Ibrahim Idris in shaping the state’s unity.

Ododo paid tribute to the late Gov. Abubakar Audu and credited President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for maintaining peace and unity in Kogi State.

He said he would complete ongoing projects and focus on solid minerals, steel development, marine, and the digital economy.

“With the support and cooperation of the people, Kogi State can become a better place for all its citizens.”
