Car plunges into Lagos Lagoon

A Toyota Avalon saloon car on Saturday in Lagos plunged into the Lagoon, Persecondnews reports.

The driver of the car marked CAL-466 GA, it was gathered, had lost control of the vehicle following a brake failure.

The accident which occurred about 12.30 pm at Costain Roundabout inward Eko Bridge attracted a horde of sympathizers including motorists.

Witness said the car swerved off the busy Apapa-Ijora-Lagos Island road before taking a deep plunge into a nearby big canal.

However, there was no casualty but the driver of the vehicle and three other occupants sustained injuries.

The first responders to the accident were motorists, who swiftly evacuated them from the vehicle and took them to the hospital for treatment.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the incident.

The Permanent Secretary and head of the agency, Dr Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, said all the rescued occupants of the car were responding to treatment at the hospital.
