Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun’s town was invaded by gunmen on Saturday as ballot boxes were destroyed and polls disrupted at a polling unit in Ayegbami a street in Iperu in Ikenne Local Government Area.

The security breach made the thugs, who rode motorcycles, to invade the polling unit about 3.40 pm and snatched the ball box before destroying it.

“Ayegbami polling unit has been destroyed. The ballot box has been destroyed and the papers were scattered on the floor.

“I had to quickly walk away from the scene,” a witness said.

The hoodlums fled the scene after disrupting the electoral process.

The scene is not far from Gov. Abiodun’s polling unit at Ward 3, Polling Unit 002, Ita Osanyin in the town.

The governor has yet to speak on the incident but a youth mob had stormed Ward 3, Polling Unit 003, Iregun, close to the polling unit of the governor, expressing their grievances against the attack.

Contacted, the spokesman for the Ogun police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, has yet to comment on the incident.
