The Nigeria COVID-19 Fund set up by the Nigeria Private Sector Coalition Against Coronavirus (CACOVID) has recorded about N19.48 billion as at April 3, 2020.
The account is domiciled at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) following the inauguration of the fund last week.
Mr Isaac Okorafor, CBN’s Director of Corporate Communications, released the list of donors and contributors to the fund on behalf of CACOVID in a statement obtained by Persecondnews.
Among the latest donors that swells the fund are Mr and Mrs Modupe and Folorunsho Alakija – — N1 billion, Raj Gupta – N1 billion , former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s Adama Beverages Ltd N50 million, John Coumantatous (Flour Mills of Nigeria Ltd) N600, 000 million and Wacot Rice Ltd N500, 000 million.
Okorafor said the pledges that had not been redeemed totaled N3.4 billion.
They include Chief Mike Adenuga N1 billion, Lafarge Plc N1 billion, MTN Nigeria Plc N1 billion and John Coumantatous N400, 000 million and Flour Mills N3.4 million.
Persecondnews recalls that first set of donors include Aliko Dangote donated N2billion each, while Abdul Samad Rabiu (Bua Sugar Refinery); Segun Agbaje (GTB); Tony Elumelu (UBA); Oba Otudeko (First Bank); Jim Ovia (Zenith Bank); Herbert Wigwe (Access Bank) and Femi Otedola of Amperion Power Distribution N1 Billion each.
