Its time to say enough is enough as the 84th National Economic Council (NEC) Thursday constituted a 10-man working committee to address brutal killings by herdsmen.

NEC comprises of the Governors of the 36 states of the Federation, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and Ministers of Budget and National Planning and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FEC). members.

The first meeting for the year presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, raised a 10-man team headed by VP Osinbajo, comprises the governors of Kaduna, Zamfara, Taraba, Benue, Adamawa, Edo, Plateau, Oyo,and Ebonyi States as members.

Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje who briefed alongside his Ebonyi State counterpart, Dave Umahi made the disclosure shortly after the meeting.

Ganduje stated that the committee would collaborate with the Federal Government in addressing impunity regarding killings and violence.

According to him, the committee will work to ensure that all the perpetrators of violence are brought to book.

Thousands of herdsmen mainly from the Fulani ethnic group have moved southwards in the last few years to flee spreading desertification in the north, putting pressure on dwindling fertile land amid rapid population growth.

At least 73 people have been killed since the beginning of the year by herdsmen.
