[dropcap]B[/dropcap]arely 48 hours after the clash between the Army and IPOB members on Sunday, which left three people injured, a detachment of soldiers from the Nigerian Army has surrounded the Afaraukwu country home of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

Residents say dozens of Armoured Carrier Vehicles, patrol cars, cycles and several Hilux vans arrived the community causing panic.

Some residents of the community are running away for fear and alleged report that the military might attack the community.

Chima Nwosu, an IPOB member in a phone chat with Per Second News alleged that the presence of the Nigerian Army armoured force raises fear of aggression. “Even more worrying, is that the move could be used as a pretext to increase military presence in the community, he said.

Meanwhile, South-East Governors’ Forum has set-up a seven- man committee to investigate the recent clash between the Nigerian Army and the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) members in Umuahia, Abia State.

The forum’s Director of Media and Communications, Mr. Michael Udah, said in a statement on Tuesday, the committee is expected to submit its report on September 15.

Udah did not mention the leader of the committee, but said it was set-up to proffer lasting solutions to such problems and forestall future occurrences.
