RECESSION: Nigeria's Flag at the Embassy in Washington goes low, refusing to fly

Washington, Stella Igwe-Adesoga------It was Michelle Obama during her crusade to elect Hillary Clinton that said “when they go low, we go high”  but the Nigerian Flag at the country's embassy in Washington decided to ditch Michelle’s credo and dive to new lows in expressing its own anger at recent happenings in Nigeria.

The most visible symbol of our country flying above the U.S.  Capitol is tattered and its colours are faded.

Clearly, it's been up there for years to have gotten so much sun it has become ragged, it's terrible," onlooker  Peter Gomez told Per Second News reporter in front of the embassy.

"It should be fixed now, you know?" said one Nigerian "Not later, not tomorrow, right now. It's an official government building with our nation's flag.

Nigerian residents say as the flag is now, it's no longer a symbol of pride.

The embassy in Washington and the consulate in New York are currently cash strapped with staff and local workers owed months of wages. Background of the building also reveals fading wall paints.
