Buhari's SIP is essential for peace, economic growth and prosperity- NEC

Members of the National Economic Council Thursday praised the Federal Government's Social Investment Programme noting its potential role and significance in enhancing the security of the country.

After a briefing by the National Security Adviser to the President, Major-General Babagana Monguno, at the 75th National Economic Council meeting, governors said that the SIP will bring peace and greater prosperity to the nation.

The NEC highlighted the potential role and significance of the Social Investment Programmes in averting some of the security concerns in the country.

The governors said the SIP is assisting in spurring broad-based economic development, including the prospect of increasing trade and investment across the country

The Council resolved to hold an extra-ordinary session to fully discuss pertinent national security matters especially as it has to do with the economy soon.
