VIDEO- Cash for votes: APC, PDP are wooing Ekiti voters

292

For years, politicians have gamed the system during election season in Nigeria, handing out food, money and clothes with promises of future largess, only to disappear behind tinted S.U.V. windows once they get into office.

But just as some say “Cassava leaf no be for goat alone.” Which means, in this case, everyone should share the wealth.

As Ekiti votes today, the electorate is turning the tables on the politicians, trying to squeeze as much cash and other freebies as they can out of the candidates before they disappear again for another four years.

They used to fool us, so now we fool them,” a grinning Dele Martins, 25, said on Saturday morning to Per Second News reporter.

Video evidence of both parties sharing money has gone viral on social media.

Link below show in polling unit 012 in Igbemo Ward of Irepodun-Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State, a  party agent, working for the All Progressives Congress,  APC, was seen sharing N5,000 to voters after casting their votes.

The video was captured by Premium Times reporters

The PDP government also sent N3,000 to residents as stipend on Thursday, all in a bid to woo voters in the state.

Meanwhile, the APC has alleged multiple voting in some polling units at Oye Ekiti, while the PDP also alleged that party agents were all chased out of polling units at Ado Ekiti.

Voters have vowed to vote the highest bidder.
